Speciication of Tools for Message Sequence Charts

چکیده
The recent formalization of the semantics of Message Sequence Charts enables the derivation of tools for MSCs directly from this formal de-nition. We use the Asf+Sdf Meta-environment to make a straightforward implementation of tools for transformation, simulation and requirements testing. In this paper we present the complete speciication of the tools.

An algebraic semantics of Message Sequence Charts
Message Sequence Charts is a graphical and textual language for the description and speciication of the interactions between system components and their environment. The language is standardized by the ITU-TS (the Telecommunication Standardization section of the International Telecommunication Union, the former CCITT). The main area of application for Message Sequence Charts is as an overview s...
متن کاملUsing a Logical Approach for Speciication Generation from Message Sequence Charts
Scenarios are partial behavior descriptions, used to represent users requirements as a basis for speciication construction. In this paper, we describe a graphical notation for scenario based on Message Sequence Charts. We also describe an algorithm that incrementally constructs timed au-tomata from scenarios. This algorithm is based on a logical approach where we deene states with predicates an...
متن کاملDeciding Properties for Message Sequence Charts
Message sequence charts (MSC) are commonly used in designing communication systems. They allow describing the communication skeleton of a system and can be used for nding design errors. First, a speciication formalism that is based on MSC graphs, combining nite message sequence charts, is presented. We present then an automatic validation algorithm for systems described using the message sequen...
متن کاملSynthesizing State-based Object Systems from Lsc Speciications
Received (received date) Revised (revised date) Communicated by Editor's name ABSTRACT Live sequence charts (LSCs) have been deened recently as an extension of message sequence charts (MSCs; or their UML variant, sequence diagrams) for rich inter-object speciication. One of the main additions is the notion of universal charts and hot, mandatory behavior, which, among other things, enables one t...
متن کاملLSCs: Breathing Life into Message Sequence Charts
While message sequence charts (MSCs) are widely used in industry to document the interwork-ing of processes or objects, they are expressively quite weak, being based on the modest semantic notion of a partial ordering of events as deened, e.g., in the ITU standard. A highly expressive and rigorously deened MSC language is a must for serious, semantically meaningful tool support for use-cases an...
